About Our Training Company

Boy with Band-Aid on knee

Eric Hiatt, Owner of Rescue 1 Training Company, first started giving classes back in late 1996 as an Enlisted Instructor in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Marine Corp Base Quantico, in Quantico, Virginia. Eric was assigned to the Training and Education Company, Command and Control Systems School, Radio Platoon.

Eric’s main responsibility at Command and Control Systems School was to teach new lieutenants Marine Corp radio equipment. However the training did not stop there. He also gave classes to Staff Academy, Amphibious Warfare School, and Scout Sniper School. Eric held this position for nearly 3 years before coming home from the Marines in 1998.

In 2001 Eric was hired by the Mishawaka Fire Department and soon became a Basic Emergency Medical Technician. He has spent most of his time on one of the city’s busiest Engine Companies. Shortly after his start on the Fire Dept, Eric began teaching CPR and First Aid, and now is in his 4th year of instructing.

Double Red Crosses

His experience in the field, dealing with real life medical emergencies, brings valuable information to the class room. Students get a “real world” perspective on how CPR works. Eric’s entire professional life has revolved around public service to his Country and to his City and a true belief in helping people.
